So what was supposed to be one trip, turned out to be a slightly different one.  My girlfriend invited me to come out to New York a few weeks ago and I was so happy to oblige since it was her first time being in New York City.  I have been out there a few times and I am always so amazed by how vast the city is.

The last time I had been to New York was three years ago when my best friend, Carol, was residing in Brooklyn.  That too was a short stay, but there is nothing like a girlfriend getaway to spend some much needed QT.  I was so pumped about going again this last time that I had been singing the chorus to Jay-Z and Alicia Keys’ song over and over until I pulled up to my hotel which was literally a block away from Times Square.

What made this trip also special was being able to visit our high school friend, Tara, who also resides in Brooklyn.  She met up with us in Central Park and strolled through the city’s beautiful park in the middle of Manhattan.  She later brought us back to Brooklyn Heights where we walked the Promenade and got a beautiful evening glimpse of Manhattan from the other side.

Hopefully, Icelandic ashes won’t interfere with my next trip out there. icon wink New York, New York

Early August, I was in Traverse City, MI with my husband and friends for a camping trip.  Unfortunately, it was mostly raining the entire weekend.  So instead of being couped up in our tents we went to a couple of my favorite wineries in the area and had our own wine tasting.  It was wonderful and regardless of weather it was still nice to be outdoors.

Our first place was Black Star Farms.  It has a wonderful selection of wine, fantastic cheese, and you can pet the animals.  I love that.

Towards the end of July, I headed back to Northern Michigan to visit a close friend of mine in Boyne City, MI.  I love coming up here for many reasons.  One mainly it being a place my family camps each summer in Young State Park.  Although, I don’t camp in the park much these days, I still have plenty of fond memories of my girlfriends and I coming up for a weekend and enjoying those dog days of summer.  Not very much has changed about this place since, which I suppose keeps my nostaglia strong.52 Boyne City, MIA pyramid sand sculpture.62 Boyne City, MII could not help but laugh at this poor kid.  I so badly wanted a picture more up close but the mother had the boys destroy their “creation” before I could even get the chance.43 Boyne City, MIMy friend, Sue, has a huge obsession with rocks in which I found quite amusing and before I knew it, I was joining with her rock collecting addiction.  I have to say I am impressed with her skill and technique when retrieving such fine gems.22 Boyne City, MIThis picture is for you, Sue.44 Boyne City, MIBarkley, their dog.12 Boyne City, MI
